Terms of reference

This report was commissioned in order to address the following points:

1. The effects on health of current levels of traffic on the A44 in Woodstock
2. The effect on health of adopting any of the three possible traffic relief options
   • Countywide HGV weight limit routing
   • Woodstock bypass
   • Continue as is
3. The effect on health of the neighbouring villages of adopting the options

The purpose of this brief report is to illustrate the range of issues that a health impact assessment (HIA) would address; it does not attempt to provide a quantified assessment of the impact on health of the options listed above. Even following a full HIA any predictions of health impact of transport schemes are conjectural; any predictions within this report are merely educated guesses, and it is important that this is borne in mind while reading the document.
